Rated as one of the most beautiful female musicians in Zambia, Gloria Kabonga has spent almost a decade fine tuning her music winning formula in the only way she knows how by jet setting around Zambia and feeling the gospel at some of the prestigious venues in and around the country. Born on 5th July, Gloria Kabonga is one of those talented Zambian artists groomed by the Green Lands Band a few years back.
The former Lusaka Girls School, Jacaranda and Munali Secondary schools student later pursued her Bachelors of Law Degree at the Open University of Zambia alongside studies in Business Economics. Gloria also holds a Diploma in Legal studies attained at the University of Zambia. A close family member confirmed to www.ZambianMusic.net that Gloria also enrolled at NIPA for a course in Basic & Advanced Prosecutors.
In the year 1999, so many music fans saw Gloria for the first time at the Women in Music Festival that was attended by a huge crowd. At the Women in Music Festival, Gloria performed the late Brenda Fassie’s hit called Vulindlela and trust us, a Zambian star in the making was born. Since then, Gloria became a sought after performer and back up artist who later shared different stages with the likes of Amayenge Band, Green Lands Band, B-Sharp, Amba04, Impact Band, Gibson and the Wave. Gloria also got so much attention way back when she formed a formidable partnership with Lady Cha and Martha in a trio called “Voices of Harmony”. Its from there that the Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation invited her to record at the mass media studios and feature on a program called Special Zambian Night.
www.ZambianMusic.net confirms that, Gloria’s first official song titled “Amabele (Breasts) composed by her mother gave her another massive support from in and out of Zambia. Gloria went ahead to release songs such as: Sunsutila, Musokwe, Ngulube, Musihale, Belu, Bombela, Teti, Ngupweko, Mwana etc.
Though she’s so much into the traditional kinda of music, Gloria Kabonga has proved to be a versatile musician who can surprise you when you least expect it. Lately, the beautiful Zambian gospel artist has released a couple of songs that have made her curve rise higher. Her song “Chalema” became a national hit even though it was a dedication to the late President Michael Sata. Gloria Kabonga went ahead to release a happy birthday song titled “Zambia Arise” which was one of the most played Jubilee songs in 2015.
