Singer Dambisa, real names Michelle Lunda Dambisa was born 11th September 1989 in Lusaka Zambia. She attended a number of schools till she got to University where she enrolled for a Bachelors degree in electrical engineering but she dropped out and concentrated on music. Her first single Kaduka Chain opened doors after it had become a country wide hit.
Dambisa says, she must have started singing at a tender age of 9 years. She used to dance and mime the late Michael Jackson’s songs. Dambisa says that she accords her farther for giving her a chance to chase her dreams. Actually the first microphone that Dambisa used was bought by her daddy. During her teenage days, Dambisa confesses that Tinah Turner’s songs always turned her upside down and she atimes listened to PK Chishala’s sounds.
According to ZambianMusic.Net, Dambisa tasted her real studio buss in 1997 at the then Sound Check Studios as she dared to the likes of Redlinso and Winston Moyo who were recording a song by then. In 2002 while at the International School of Lusaka, Dambisa managed to record her first song titled Bwela. She then joined the No Parking Band and that saw her record more songs like Suiliko, Okamiwa, and Chuumba. These songs helped her grab gigs at the crossroads concerts. Since then, the husky voiced dancehall diva has never turned back. She has since released hit after hit including collaborations with DJ Cosmo, Yellowman, Chester etc. Most music lovers in Zambia have since refered to Dambisa as the Queen of Dancehall music in Zambia and don't forget, Dambisa is a proud single mother of two handsome boys.
