Joseph Banda also known as Jay Brown is a Zambian musician born on 5th April 1992 in a family of four 2 sisters and one brother. He spoke to ZambianMusic.net and this is what he shared with them. I did my primary school at Kamwala south basic school from 1999 to 2005, later went to nyimba secondary school for junior secondary level from 2006 to 2007. Iam a versatile Zambian artist who who does so many genres.
Early 2008 I did my first song titled Ganiza Po Chita Chitu and as I thought of promoting the song, I lost my mother and she was the only manager I had financially. Amidst hard situations, I chose to go back to school and enrol for grade 10 unto 2010 when I completed my grade 12. When I came in society it wasn't easy for me to start music as a professional but thanks to Skyweb who introduced me to some producers and already well know artist. in 2012 December I went back in the booth and did a song to titled Muganiza Bwa after a long time without recording a track. The Muganiza Bwa was loved by the people in the ghetto of Zambia. Since then, I have collaborated with some of Zambia’s established artists such as Alpha Romeo. In the year 2015, I released an album titled “Welcome to Zambia” which was highly appreciated by Zambia’s tourism board.
According to ZambianMusic.net, Jay Brown believes that very soon, he will change the face of Zambian music as long as he’s still alive. Jay Brown encourages the youth not to give up on their dreams.
