Leicester City has reportedly agreed terms with Patson Daka for the arrival of the Red Bull Salzburg striker to the King Power Stadium.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano is reporting that a fee has been accepted by Salzurg and official confirmation will be made next week.
Leicester City are also due to announce the signing of Lille midfielder Boubakary Soumare.
Daka was said to be a transfer target for Leicester City’s Premier League rivals Chelsea and Liverpool after netting 34 goals in 42 games last season for Salzburg.
The 25-cap Zambia international scored 24 goals in 2019-20 for the Austrian champions, with Salzburg a proven breeding ground for talent with players like Sadio Mane and Erling Braut Haaland plying their trade at Jesse Marsch’s side before moving on to become two of the biggest stars in world football.
Daka will arrive at the King Power Stadium to challenge Jamie Vardy and Kelechi Iheanacho for a place up front in Brendan Rodgers’ City side.
A fee of £30 million was quoted in The Telegraph on Thursday in a report that said City were to ‘step up’ their interest in Daka.
Vardy turns 35 in January and despite Iheanacho’s fine 2020-21 campaign with City in the Europa League next season again and fighting for a Champions League spot there is an expectancy that a striker will come in.
It was thought that Celtic’s Odsonne Edouard would be coming in to add to Rodgers’ attack but reports have claimed that a deal for the player has hit the buffers.
On the Daka news, the latest update has had City fans purring on social media.
