Government of Zambia has ordered the closure of schools for 21 days starting today 16th of June 2021 as part of tighter measures introduced to contain the COVID-19 pandemic in the country.

All Nursery, Kindergarten, Primary and Secondary schools shall remain closed with immediate effect. I take this opportunity to inform all School headteachers not to teach students in or outside classrooms, said an official from the Ministry Of Education.

Government has also ordered the immediate closure of Bars, Night Clubs, Discotheques and all outdoor places where revellers go for parties.

For the next 21 days, all these entertainment places including bars shall only operate on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 18hours till 22hours, said a Government official.

It should be remembered that, most people in Zambia have been so reluctant in adhering to the recommended SoPs.

While in Kanyama yesterday, opposition Presidential candidate Hakainde Hichilema also advised Zambians to keep social distance, wash their hands and mask up as a way of containing the COVID 19 Pandemic.
