The search for a national team coach will hopefully be settled within days with the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) having settled on Serbian Milutin Sredojević, commonly known as Micho, subject to approval from the Ministry of Sport, which bankrolls the coach’s salary.
A FAZ emergency committee meeting on Monday settled on Micho over former Mozambique coach Abel Xavier and Belgian Jacky Minnaert who had also made the three-man shortlist.
Micho saw Uganda qualify for the 2016 CHAN tournament and managed to take them to the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations after 39 years of their absence.
He managed Orlando Pirates from 2017 to 2019 and ended as runner-ups twice in the Premier Soccer League [PSL] of South Africa before having a short stay at Zamalek in Egypt.
